Master project 2021
Social media campaign

In 2021, we will celebrate 1700 years of Jewish life in Germany. The social image of Judaism is shaped in schools and in the media by an overrepresentation of the Holocaust, anti-Semitism and the Middle East conflict. The aim of the festival year is to make contemporary Jewish life in Germany visible and tangible.
In the context of my master project I wanted to find an alternative, creative approach to German-Jewish lives. Through the object level, the [religious] everyday life of Jewish people shall be visualized on a supra-individual level. The work presents the results of the project Jewish life in Germany: the world of things, which was initiated on the occasion of the festival year at the Folkwang University of the Arts in the Department of Design.
Eight students participated in the project and designed – on the basis of conversations with Jewish families – products and communication media that are intended to consciously shape German-Jewish life.
The content is published in the form of an extensive photo documentation by Majid Moussavi via a target group-specific social media strategy. The communication campaign juedisch.deutsche.dinge is a conceptually new contribution to the media representation of Jewish diversity and the German-Jewish present.
